Michael Slater D.O.

michael slater Dr Slater is Buffalo born and bred but left home for undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago. After 15 meaningful years working in Washington, DC he decided to pursue a medical degree at LECOM in Erie, PA.

After graduation he worked for 3 years back home in the most underserved area of the city. Subsequently, and after years of working for others, Dr Slater struck out on his own, forming Compassionate Medical Care of WNY which now has two locations.

Dr. Slater’s holistic philosophy of treatment emphasizes gentle, compassionate care which takes into account the whole picture of someone’s health, including daily stressors, relationships, financial issues and other contextual issues. He strongly believes in a mind body connection and tries to avoid expensive tests by careful listening and thorough exams. He is equally dedicated to avoiding using many medicines to solve medical problems, but he is comfortable prescribing for a wide range of diagnoses. Dr Slater does not routinely prescribe narcotic medications.
